Installation Visits
Analytical Studies are intended for those situations where the resolution of noise issues requires a significant analytical effort, or where legal compliance issues may be involved. This is also appropriate for large-scale industrial noise problems, or in situations where litigation or legal matters may be involved. Analytical visits cover a wide variety of situations, and may include:
- Making sound pressure and frequency-content measurements
- Performing comprehensive dimensional and/or layout measurements of the facility or area
- Resolution of environmental noise issues, such as plant noise or other large-scale noise sources.
- Discussions with all key stakeholders to fully understand the scope and nature of the problem
- Comprehensive physical inspection of involved area(s), to identify problems
- Determination of requirements and detailed specification of noise isolation or noise testing facilities
- Calculating reverberation levels (R-60) within a room, and determining necessary solutions
- Use of specialized instrumentation, such as spectrum analyzers, data recorders, sound power analyzers, noise loggers or other equipment as deemed necessary to identify and solve the problem
- Measurement of source ‘sound power’ levels
- Thorough documentation of equipment calibration as well as legally-mandated data logs and description of measurement methods (for legal compliance issues only)
- Comprehensive analysis, including cross-spectral evaluations, coherence, transfer functions, room resonances, etc.
- The generation of a detailed summary report, showing all data, findings and recommended solutions
- If necessary, the generation of a computer-based noise model to determine the effects of noise mitigation measures (walls, enclosures) to determine the most cost effective solution approach
- The generation of a quote (where appropriate) for necessary acoustic materials and/or installation labor to resolve the problem.
Analytical visits may take from 4 hours to several days to complete depending on complexity.
