These hard surfaces are excellent ‘noise reflectors’, and can cause serious reverberation problems, resulting in a cacophony of noise from ongoing conversations or meetings. High levels of background noise can result in poor concentration, annoyance or in difficulty communicating. In other cases, offices have been built in facilities which were not originally designed for this purpose or where the number of employees has expanded beyond the original intent of the room. Reducing annoying reverberation requires the careful application of noise-absorbing materials at strategic locations. A variety of highly effective products are available for this purpose, and can be designed and installed so as to blend-in with the aesthetics of virtually any office area. Fabric panels, colorful and shaped acoustic ‘clouds’ and other products are very effective at minimizing sound reflections.

Law and doctor’s offices often desire conference rooms or meeting areas to be acoustically isolated to permit complete privacy during discussions. This requires the installation of noise-blocking materials, which can often be installed without changing the room’s appearance or design. Noise-blocking products can also be used to reduce noise from outside traffic or other external sources.
