Direct Field Sound Masking with Cambridge Sound Management revolutionized the sound masking industry with the development of direct field sound masking technology, QtPro. QtPro uniformly disperses a pre-tuned sound masking signal directly into the workspace. The result is a consistent and comfortable ambient sound throughout the space. The standard QtPro system consists of three simple components: emitters (i.e. loudspeakers), a control module that powers and sends the audio signal to the emitters, and standard category cables that connect the emitters to the control modules. Keeping QtPro simple helps our integration partners install our products quickly, efficiently, and effectively – often with no disruption to your business day. The the system is designed to grow and change with your business – new zones and emitters can often be added to the existing control modules.
Memtech Acoustical has supplied and installed CSM (Cambridge Sound Management) technology systems for our customers in the military, medical and educational fields. Cambridge offers innovative, simple and intelligently engineered solutions to the problems of privacy and acoustic distractions.
Described as the “cover” portion of the equation, sound masking is the addition of an unobtrusive background sound, similar to airflow, to reduce the intelligibility of human speech and reduce distractions.
The resulting environment leads to greater productivity and increased privacy and comfort. The privacy index goal is 80% for open office areas and 95% for private offices. The addition of sound masking helps organizations achieve these speech privacy goals.
Sound masking has proved to be an effective solution to noise control in the workplace, eliminating employee distractions while improving productivity. It’s also an indispensable tool in addressing the issues of speech privacy.
When someone’s conversation is clearly understood, the speech becomes a distraction and the individual speaking has less privacy.
Cambridge systems are designed to increase the room’s ambient sound, making the talker’s voice less intelligible. As the ambient sound in the room increases, it becomes more challenging to discern an individual’s conversation from across the room.
This inability to understand the conversation reduces distractions and increases the talker’s speech privacy.
